Are you running to something, or just away from something?

Most people know what they want to run away from – a job they hate, a living situation that’s not ideal, an unhealthy friendship – but few people know where they want to run to.

Here is the problem with this scenario. By only focusing on what we are running from and never looking up to see where we are actually going, all we will ever do is go in circles.

Sadly, this is the cycle of most people. A depressing, progression-less, direction-less circle. No wonder most people also look bored out of their minds and discouraged with their own lives!

A better approach is this: don’t focus on what you want to get away from, but on what you want to go towards.

If you know where you are going from the beginning, you can continually focus there and let it guide your decision making. Then when an opportunity presents itself, you can decide based on whether it will take you in the direction you ultimately want to go.

This approach brings about so much peace. We stop jumping from one shiny object to another and make decided and progressive steps. And progress in a direction is one of the most fulfilling and satisfying feelings in the world!

If you want more ideas of what to run towards, listen to this podcast for starters.
