The I Don’t Care Project = 1 “Uncomfortable Situation” Every Week

We’ve realized how much what we do, say, and the decisions we make are influenced by what others may think.

The I Don’t Care Project is our way of counteracting that. We intentionally put ourselves in “uncomfortable situations” in hopes of overcoming this fear. These “uncomfortable situations” may include things like doing something other than what is normal and expected or voicing our opinions and beliefs more often.

I love the idea of your project. Forcing ourselves to get out of our comfort zone is a must. It’s the best way to make ourselves grow.

      Joe,
Thanks! And totally true! Never knew how much I cared what other people thought till I attempted to do things that were uncomfortable for me. The best thing is that I/we have made some awesome new friendships by doing so!

What do you do to stretch yourself? (always curious for more ideas 🙂 )

Glad to hear you were able to form new friendships by stretching yourself to try new and odd things.

I haven’t been doing a lot of stretching lately. Did a lot of it before my wife and I got married. Things like walking up to random strangers and talking to them. Or offering a homeless person part of my meal. Little things but it got me out of my box.

          Joe,
I’ve been doing things when they pop into my head. It really has been super fun!

Love getting out of the box… keep us updated when you get back to it 😉

Recently I have realized how much fear is/was part of how I did life. As I became aware of this, I have determined I will not live out of this anymore. You have no idea how often I recently thought to myself IDC…when I was faced with something that felt uncomfortable and scary. 😉 I have learned as I face my fear and acknowledge it…it loses power over me. What a gorgeous shop!

      Char,
Hah, Awesome! “I have learned as I face my fear and acknowledge it…it loses power over me.” yes. yes.
I totally never realized how much fear has control over me either! wow. It permeated everything I did. So freeing to start breaking that cycle.

I actually thought of you while I was at the shop and thought you would enjoy it 🙂

Have a great trip… will miss seeing you!

Another great post I can learn from! I am usually afraid of hurting someones feelings when I voice my opinion when we don’t agree on something. As I am typing this I’m thinking to myself I really shouldn’t for lots of reasons. One of the reasons bring that I know my feelings don’t get hurt when someone else voices their opinion. I also want people to like me and sometimes I feel they treat me different sometimes when I tell them how I feel about something. Thanks for making me think. Liked the interview!

      Ashley,
I like you already! You think, and I like people that think 🙂

I hear ya! I think the desire to be liked by people is so strong it can make us say or not say many things!

Keep reaching out… there are plenty of us out here that want to hear your opinions 🙂
