Month in Review for October 2012

November 5, 2012

As the weather turns colder and we break out our comfy sweatshirts, we look forward to the winter months ahead and 2013 right around the corner! Here’s a brief recap of this past month and some of what’s been going on in our world.

Us goofing around

Like many of the people across the country, we had prepared for the worst with Hurricane Sandy. Being in eastern Pennsylvania, the storm was expected to pass right over us and cause quite a mess. Thankfully, it took a bit of a different route and we avoided the brunt of it. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many who have been impacted greatly.

This past month, a group of about 40 of us participated in the rise365 Productivity Experiment. It was a great group of folks sharing ideas and keeping each other accountable with being more productive.

We continued to do a bit of mystery shopping. Even though we weren’t as intense with it as some of the past months, we still made a decent amount money. This continues to work well to supplement our income and help us pay off debt.

Mystery shopping details

Total earned: $350
Free gas: $25
Grand total: $375

Total time spent: 24 hours
Average pay per hour: $16/hr (includes travel time)

In addition to the mystery shopping, we also sold a few items on Craigslist. This has been great as we continue to go through our things and declutter. Here’s one of the more interesting items we sold!

What’s coming up on rise365

In just two days, we’ll have reached the one year anniversary of rise365! Be on the lookout for an update on what to expect going forward. We’re really excited about the things we have planned!

Also, if you haven’t already, we’d greatly appreciate it if you took our reader survey.

You guys have certainly had a wonderful September – and my prayer is for it to continue and multiply for yoiu as you reach your one year anniversary!  So grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know you and be part of your journey. The highlights for me for September were putting my second book on Kindle – Entrepreneurs for Eternity – and actually signing up 14 new Preferred Customers for Beyond Organic!

Congrats on the second book and the business progress, Ann! That’s great.
And, we’ve loved the opportunity of getting to know you too. Thanks for all the support!

Ann – (14) new customers!  That is terrific!  Your hard work is paying huge dividends (and more to come).

Can’t believe it’s been a whole year in two days!!! And I honestly cannot believe that you stuck to your commitment to write daily…. Not missing even ONE day?! That is extremely commendable!! Proud of you guys! 🙂

Thanks, Annette! It’s been a lot of fun; yeah, challenging too at times. But totally worth it! It made all the difference that it was a team effort and that we had incredible encouragement from awesome people like you! 🙂

Happy (almost) anniversary.  It’s been a blessing to be a part of your journey.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys have up your sleeves for your next adventure.  Thanks for all of the inspiration!  By the way, our “Spartan Race” challenge was my favorite part of October 🙂

    • Michael Good November 5, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Oh, right! How could I have missed that!

Thanks for the support that you and Steve offer, Jody. Hope your November goes well!

  • Michael Wright November 24, 2012 at 4:40 pm

So glad the storm missed you guys.  Folks I work with in New Jersey faired a mixed bag depending on where they were at.

Thanks for the Mystery Shopping stats – good to hear how much one can earn from this activity.  That’s not bad at all considering a regular part time seasonal job might pay 1/2 that down here.

    • Michael Good November 26, 2012 at 6:32 am

Michael, PT seasonal work would pay about the same here. We knew we needed just a little something on the side for a bit and saw this as a
      quick opportunity.
