Pumping Gas Creatively – IDC #17

June 13, 2012

This video is part of the I Don’t Care Project. (thanks Ryan Ash for suggesting this IDC!)

We’ve realized how much what we do, say, and the decisions we make are influenced by what others may think.

The I Don’t Care Project is our way of counteracting that. We intentionally put ourselves in“uncomfortable situations” in hopes of overcoming this fear. These “uncomfortable situations” may include things like doing something other than what is normal and expected or voicing our opinions and beliefs more often.

To do your own IDC and share it in your own IDC post, click here.

Lol! That’s great! I had actually forgotten my suggestion until I saw this post. I believe that things like this teach us to not take ourselves (and what others think about us) so seriously. Great job to you both! I’m sure it was probably just as awkward standing out there holding the camera as it was pumping the gas.

That’s a great way to put it, Ryan. Things like this teach us to not take ourselves (and what others think about us) so seriously.

I think it was more of an IDC for Claudia. She was standing in the middle of the of the lot/driveway filming me… while holding a child… nearly getting run over by multiple trucks.. in the rain…

      She did great!

Lol! Yeah for Claudia…and Jude. Now your message from last night makes more sense.

    Right, why not?

Awesome!!!!!!!! That’s how you think outside the box…. I love that!

    • Michael Good June 14, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Right, I know. Who says you can’t pump this way?

      • Rob Clinton June 20, 2012 at 10:54 pm

        I don’t think anyone did…. But you just made gas-pumping Fun! 🙂

As an engineer, Michael – I can say that’s why they put those concrete poles around the pumps – so the IDC crowd doesn’t back over the Gas Pumps! Nice job! With a little practice you’ll get it on the first try next time. Love your willingness to do different things and be a little “silly”. I tell my daughter that she gets her silliness from me. A noble trait.

      Michael, agreed. A noble trait!

I thought of IDC in my own life, yesterday. I was scolling through my contacts and saw an old friends number. I wouldn’t call her, because we both upset each other. I think, because we didn’t stay in touch. How we wanted. I think we both tried and it never took off to a renewed friendship.
Any ways, I grew some balls and called her and started with I’m sorry for not staying in touch. We ended with we should get together for lunch. I lost my balls here 🙂 I said yeah that would be good and we ended our call. I left it in her court. I shouldn’t have. Now I set myself up to be hurt. I guess I’m gonna have to set up the lunch…

Awesome, Jenny! (somehow I missed this comment till now)

This reminds me of Claudia rekindling a lost friendship. You’ll have to ask her about it.

Way to be proactive and ignore those pesky voices of fear. You just gotta do it!

So, did you set that lunch up yet? 😉
