Running With My Shirt Off – IDC #1

November 21, 2011

Welcome to the first I Don’t Care Project!

How it helped:
– It invigorated, energized, and motivated me!
– Taught me that once you get out and start whatever the challenge is, it gets easier. The fear of what others think lessens.
– Taught me that my doubts and fears only get worse when I push them off (was going to do it a day earlier but used the irrelevant excuse of our computer crashing to wait a day).

How it hurt:
– I’m self conscious with my shirt off and I ran down the main street in the center of my town during the morning rush.
– It was 37 degrees the morning of the run! My fingers stung and my lungs burned like crazy after I got back!
– I ran 2 miles when I hadn’t run in 3 months…very sore the day after.
– The thought actually crossed my mind that I might get arrested for indecent exposure (or just for being illogical and stupid) when I passed a police officer.

Nice work! Good talking, while running, while shooting a video. Multitasking at its finest. I can relate to running with your shirt off. This past summer I fell in love with cycling. As you might guess the more you get into it the more spandex you wear. At first I was really self conscious (still sort of am) but as I did it more and more I cared less and less. It’s all about finding the right fit ;-).

By the way, our wives have been chatting. I think thet are plotting a skype date sometime in the near future.

Nice work on the running. Keep it up!

Josh, for some reason I didn’t see your whole comment earlier. Spandex. Ooh, yeah I’ve thought about how I wouldn’t feel comfortable in that! Skype sounds good, maybe we can join and make it a party.
      Thanks for the note.

I agree with Josh – nice work talking, running and shooting video!

This is great – it’s like how I mentioned the other day – dressing up at work “just because” and then realizing after the fact that it wasn’t as scary as imagined. I can relate, my fears grow larger the more I push them off too!

Hey thanks, Alana. You know, even when things are scary, after the fact they’re not such a big deal.

Hm is that weird in PA? It doesn’t seem to be too out of the ordinary out in Jersey. But again… Jersey Shore…

Will, no especially. Just weird and uncomfortable for me (especially when it’s in the thirties)!
