Question: What’s one way you’re taking action this holiday weekend?

Today, I’m meeting a local organic farmer that I never realized was 3 miles from us. Picking up 25 pounds of fresh, grass fed/grass finished beef! Should be a good time visiting his farm with my daughter. Sunday, having friends over on Sunday to eat and play which we don’t get to do often.
I’m using my day off on Monday to go through a Life Plan ebook by Michael Hyatt. It’s free and has tons of great reviews from pastors and leaders I respect. http://michaelhyatt.com/life-plan.

      Michael,
I have that ebook on my computer but haven’t taken the time to go through it. Let me know how you like it. It looks like it’s a good one!

25 lbs of beef. Nice! That’s great to stock up like that.

Michael – My husband and I are going to a old car museum this weekend. We both enjoy looking at classic cars. I’ve had a busy week so a day to just sit and read will be enjoyable. Will definitely be grilling out on Monday.

Cindy, old cars – that makes me think of Dan Miller. I’m sure if you listen to his podcast, you know he’s a car guy. Have fun spending time with your husband!

My husband and I will go out for dinner tonight since my daughter is working until 10 pm and will probably go out after and just relax. I have some time to listen to a really powerful teaching on CD and I’m looking forward to that.

      Ann,
Sounds great; have a good evening!

    Oh man, great question.

I’m taking action by connecting with friends and family. Today I spent the day fishing with my father-in-law and nephew. It was a great time of relaxation and enjoyment of those around me.

Afterwards, my wife and I headed to friends from church for a get together. We had a blast getting to know those we hadn’t known before and reconnecting with those that we know.

Tomorrow/today will be another time of connecting with my father-in-law and nephew as we’ll be fishing again. Then it’s fireworks with the same friends we visited with. Should be a blast.

It’s great being able to focus on others and forming important relationships.

Whoops, and I just realized I listed out more than one but that’s okay… Right?

What are you and Claudia doing?

    • Michael Good May 27, 2012 at 9:19 pm

That’s great, Joe! I love that you’re investing in relationships. Something that aften gets pushed aside.

Claudia and I are spending the first 3-day weekend together in a long time! We’ll still be working on getting some things done, but both be home and around.

Claudia did put a few hours of work in on Saturday, but from home. We were able to look over our finances for next month. Today, Sunday, we visited a new church which we really enjoyed then made homemade pizza for lunch (and dinner).

Now, I think we’ll finish our Sunday off by watching the rest of “The Tower Heist.” Some recreational fun. 🙂

Tomorrow, write some posts and finish up some things together here at home.

      Did you catch anything?

      • Joe Lalonde May 28, 2012 at 6:35 am

That must be awesome Michael. Both of you having a 3-day weekend together must be exciting!

Sounds like you guys had a busy weekend as well. They never seem to last long enough, do they?

And yes, we did have some luck fishing. Over the weekend and between 4 or so trips we caught about 40 fish, bluegills and bass.

I am reading Michael Hyatt’s book “Platform, writing a few blog posts, working on some updates for my website and spending some time with my son before he leaves for South Africa for a month.

    • Michael Good May 27, 2012 at 9:13 pm

That one’s on my reading list, Bernard. Let me know how you like it.

What updates are looking to do to your site? I went over there again, you built it out very well!

      • Bernard Haynes May 27, 2012 at 9:40 pm

The book is excellent. It is easy to read through and understand. It was very beneficial. I am working on some minor things. I am going to offer an ebook for people registering to my site and just some other minor changes.

        • Michael Good May 28, 2012 at 10:10 pm

An ebook is something we’ve thought about as well. Have you started it yet? What is the topic?

Friday spend time with older ladies from church at restaurant luncheon and then went to see my niece’s prom dress before she went to the prom.
Saturday attended one year old birthday party. Came home and fixed tomorrows food dishes for my presentation.
Sunday church service at 10a.m. Early for holiday , work at coffee hour because it’s my church family’s turn. Hope to go to the Detroit Institute of Arts for pottery class if they are still having it.
Monday, sew 3 scarves to sell and attend the polish festival in Bloomfield.
Have a blast and enjoy the holiday.

    • Michael Good May 27, 2012 at 9:12 pm

Sounds like a great, eventful weekend, Marie. A pottery class sounds fun!

Have a good rest of the weekend as well.

I try to lead everyday from quiet: http://www.liveitforward.com/6-bs-lead-your-life-from-quiet/

This one practice almost guarantees proactive living.

    • Michael Wright May 28, 2012 at 9:49 am

      I re-read this article, Kent. I really enjoy the 6 B’s.

    • Michael Good May 28, 2012 at 9:59 pm

I re-read it as well, Kent. Great post!

    • Michael Good May 28, 2012 at 10:05 pm

Kent, what is the 1% of the 1-20-80 rule? And, how do you set this up on 3×5 cards?

  • Kent Julian May 27, 2012 at 9:27 pm

By the way…there’s a big difference between “leisure” and “laziness.” Leisure is proactive and rejuvenating; laziness is passive and depleting.
