Question: Are you creating time for your goals in life (now that the Olympics are over)?

    Haha – that’s a great quote.  Actually my husband and I are driving to CT to visit my Matthew and see his new apartment and spend the day with him.  I am taking a legal pad where I have a list of tasks/projects I want to accomplish before the end of the year and I will organize my thoughts and get some specific steps down in the order they need to happen so Monday I can hit the ground running!

      That’s awesome, Ann! What a great way to be proactive about the things that are really important to you. Enjoy the trip!

    I hear ya!  I’ve watched very little TV over the past several years, but am finding the the internet is really the “new TV” for me.  I have to limit my curiosity, reading and researching sometimes as it really can eat away the time.   I watched about two hours total of the Olympics – one hour while I was visiting my parents and another when I got home.  We visited some friends on the way home and they were saying how excited they were about them (and asked me how much we’d been watching)….I sheepishly said “not at all” and I got a blank stare.  When I got home, I cut on the TV to catch some footage and my wife just looked at me and said “SO, they got you watching the Olympics, huh?” 🙂  I watched the Steeplechase finals and cut it off!

      Michael,
      I had to google steeplechase, thought it was going to be something on horses! It was about the same for me, I watched about 5 minutes of the Olympics at a friends house. That’s all. I probably would have watched more, but without a TV, it makes it a little more difficult.

      I agree with you. The new “TV” is the interent for me as well. I have to have to be careful not to waste too much time doing meaningless browsing!

    Michael, how do you interpret that Dave Ramsey quote? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!!

      He’s talking about the show Surviver and how millionaires don’t spend much time in front of the television.
      Is that what you mean?

        I think that quote can be interpreted in several ways;

        1. You must be rich to be successful/being rich is the goal. There’s nothing wrong with being rich, but I think we should aspire to be rich in ways other than just financially.

        2. television is a waste of time-you can’t be successful if you watch it. I don’t know if I agree with either of this line of thinking. I think it is more about what your priorities are and television can actually be a good thing to refuel your creativity. If that’s all you are passionate about and you are not being productive, obviously television is a very bad thing. In moderation, I don’t see television as being bad.

          Jim,
          I agree that there’s nothing wrong with wealth. If fact, I think it is good to be wealthy financially, as long as you leave the greed by the wayside and don’t let the money control you.

          TV is interesting for me. While I agree that it could fuel creativity, I think regular broadcast television is something we need need to be cautious with. There so many underlying messages in much of the programming and commercials that I’d rather not subject myself to.

          This is a personal choice of mine and I’m sure one can be selective with what they view.
