You guys are just too adorable!!!  And I love those tips.  The whole asking open ended questions is something I’ve been very aware of and try to do regularly – in my FB posts and in my newsletters.  Getting someone to engage, as long as the question is sincere and you actually want to hear the answer is the bottom line to me!  Finding ways to ask questions that help me hear what is said between the lines as a coach when someone is asking for help is also something I’ve been working on developing.  I have to say the Master at asking probing questions that get to the heart of a matter is, well, the Master – Jesus!

That would be a very important skill to have as a coach Ann! I’m sure you do often have to read between the lines or think of creative questions to ask people to get to the bottom of some issues.

Yes! Jesus was great at asking very probing questions 🙂

Thanks for the tips.  At a recent large gathering of Men I was at, we were told right at the start that none of us were allowed to ask the other man “What do you do?”…that is a natural 1st question and made me think of others.  I am always interesting in learning to ask questions better, so THANKS!  I just reserved this audiobook from the library…

Oh it’s a great one Michael! I think you will love it! Communication tools… I am just eating up his advice, I have NEVER heard this stuff before and it is powerful.

Did you say you were at a Calling retreat?? With Gary Barkalow?? How was it?

      • Michael Wright October 20, 2012 at 1:30 pm

Claudia, Gary’s retreat was awesome.  It was a place where you had to be very open and vulnerable to men you really didn’t know, but allowing God and them to speak into your life as well as me speaking into theirs.  I came away with some confirmation that I am living out my calling to a large degree but also the encouragement to walk in it in a greater way.   Shed some tears and made some friends in the process.  I think it’s something that is good to revisit at least each year.

          Michael,
Sounds amazing! I have LOVED listening to Gary’s talks that is for sure! I can imagine one of his retreats would be truly revealing and healing. So glad you got to go!
