Meeting people online is a fairly new concept to me, but I’m finding it’s turned out to be a great one.   It’s great that you both are open to meeting new people as well in your neighborhood.  Having a child for us certainly opened up our social doors more so locally  as you tend to hang out with other parents with children.  Our girl doesn’t know any social “boundaries” at six, and will frequently start up a conversation with strangers at local shops.  We’ve met people and had some interesting conversations just from her doing that.

That’s pretty neat, Michael. Having Jude has been similar for us too. Having a child with you gives people something to immediately talk about and relate to you with.

I would have to say I have been meeting more people online recently only because I don’t go out as much since I do work from home.

We’ve met lots of people online too, but find it refreshing to meet people in person as well. It’s interesting, I think I’ve been meeting fewer new people in person since starting the business. I meet new clients but don’t have to constant interaction with coworkers and customers and my former job.

I’ve met a lot of great people on line (Stranger Danger).  One of our goals for the summer was to meet new people in person and to meet people in person that we initially met online.  It went great since we put ourselves out there and contacted people for interviews and meet up throughout the country.  Now that we’ve settled down for a few months, I’ve continued to meet people online.

During our first weekend here, we signed up to join a small group at a local church.  We kinda put ourselves out there and just jumped in.  Interestingly, it’s been almost three weeks and no one has contacted us.  Mmmmm, that doesn’t really bode well for the new church’s outreach efforts.

      Jody,

Hmm, yeah that’s not the best way for a church to handle that! I love how you’re being intentional with meeting people locally even though you’re only there for a brief time. It’d be so easy to draw in and be nonsocial.
