We Just Got Started, Fear And All

July 23, 2012

When we started rise365, we didn’t know what we wanted the site to ultimately become. However, we did know the direction we wanted to head and what our first step was: To get started with our first post!

Fortunately, as we took those first steps, more became clear along the way. We’d never be where we are today had we waited till we had it all figured out. It’s been a journey and a learning experience, like a lot of things.

There were times of fear thinking we were being too transparent or that we were going to offend someone or come across the wrong way. Then there were times of encouragement and excitement as we got emails from people around the world saying how we encouraged or inspired them.

So, on this journey, we’ve been figuring more out as we go. We have uncovered many of our passions and dreams and have developed a clearer vision for what we see this community becoming.

In a recent video, we spoke about taking a day to clarify and refocus. Claudia and I looked at a number of things with this site being the main focus. The day was super beneficial and we were able to make some solid headway!

We’ll be filling you in with more of the details of how that affects rise365 in a couple of days. We’re super excited about it!

Oh, and out of this clarification and refocusing came a new tagline for the site! We think you’re going to love it!

Question: Is there an area of your life that could use refocusing?

Michael I am excited to see what you and Claudia have come up with!  For me, there is always periodic refocusing in all areas of my life.  Things are constantly changing and I am always learning new things (yes, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks lol!) and actually learning new things about myself – so refocusing is a constant thing in my life.  Actually it’s one of the principles in my Today’s the Day plan – refocusing your lens.  When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change!

      Ann,

Thanks for the input. Like I commented to you earlier, I think it’s amazing how our focus impacts everything. I love the way you framed it here!

    Thanks, I needed this today.

      Brent,
You’re welcome. Persist with the journey…

An area that needs refocusing?  Yes, all of them probably!  When I get used to routines and find myself going through the motions, I like to change things up – otherwise boredom and the mundane sets in.

Michael, that’s a great approach. I think it’s great that you’re aware of that and taking action on it.

I know a little bit about fear. I’m trying to chip away at them but focus is necessary. Glad you are taking the steps to overcome your fear and be an inspiration for the us. I’m looking forward to what’s in store for rise365!

Thanks, Thomas! Glad we could be an inspiration. I’m looking forward to your new twist on blogging, by the way!

I think I’m just about excited to hear the news as I was when you guys started!

Refocusing is essentially what we’re right now, and I love it! Life doesn’t come with “auto-focus” pre-installed…we have to be intentional about it.

    Keep up the great work!

Hey thanks, Ryan! Yeah, you guys have made a lot of big changes recently, changes that most people wouldn’t have persevered with.

      Keep up the great work!

Thanks, Michael! You guys have been keeping us inspired, so thanks for that!

I needed to read this. I’m contemplating a new blog and I’m agonizing over a topic. I’m realizing that if I really do start, the path will reveal itself. Thanks!

Tomoko, glad you found it helpful. What are some of the topics you’re considering?
