Isn’t that interesting?
I find myself saying this a lot lately. About things that happen. Things that I am thinking about. Something I remember. A memory.
I used to never stand back and look at my own life and wonder why some things happened the way that they do. Well, actually I did, but it was always from the plain old, “Why is this happening to me?” standpoint.
I never thought of asking another question or viewing it from a different standpoint. If something hard happened to me, it was just always hard.
I didn’t process how things made me feel and why they made me feel that way or why certain things caused certain reactions. I just plain felt something. Period.
I look life a lot more in the eye now. I think about things happening, how I felt when they happened and why I felt that way.
I analyze. I read. I listen and study. I have become a student of life. It really does have a lot to offer if your looking to learn.
Question: Do you ask yourself questions about the events of your life to help you process?
Wonderful post. Good advice for every single one of us – become a student of life and pay attention! Thanks for the reminder.
Ann,
Sure thing! Jim Rohn talks a lot about this… I just love his perspective!
True true Marianne!
yet another bonus for the journaling!!
What do you do if you are out and about and you have a journaling thought? (I know you said you type) do you have a travel journal?
Claudia,
I have a pen and paper everywhere — in the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, car, purse…. I’m always making little notes and then I transfer those little notes to my journal or TO DO list.
Have a Victorious Day!
Marianne
hahahaaa love that Marianne!
It blows me away to have that sense that everything serves a purpose, or there is a reason behind it; like something much bigger is at work that I really have no comprehension as to how, except to be dazzled or bewildered by things that “happen”. I ask these things all the time, but I still can’t get a hold of the idea as to why on earth would God put such beautiful stars in our skies and I can’t even touch them. There’ s got to be much more as to how we’re connected with what we see than meets the eye.
As this goes with all of the events we experience, whether positive or negative, they are there as though they are a doorway to something else. All events and people that we come across are our teachers. Everything is a lesson to be learned. From this perspective, we’ll always be students. We’ll never have to be better than anybody; we’ll just keep getting better.
Rob,
I like how you said, “There’ s got to be much more as to how we’re connected with what we see than meets the eye.”
Totally agree. In fact I think we have no idea!!!
oooooh I also like how you said, “As this goes with all of the events we experience, whether positive or negative, they are there as though they are a doorway to something else.”
Wonderful, wonderful way to view life with its summers and winters… ups and downs!
I wish we could touch the stars too!! Actually they often look like pinholes through black construction paper to me. And the light is heaven… just a peek of it… but oh so bright! 🙂
Hey I like the pinhole idea! 🙂 That is cool… But absolutely, there has got to be so much more to how we’re connected that we see is obvious. I take really good comfort in that thought…
That is sooo comforting!
Claudia, I have been asking that question a lot lately. As I have had ups and downs lately, the one thing I have noticed is that in each event there was someone new that I was connected to that will be an asset in my life moving forward. I am sure this was always the case throughout my life I was just not asking the question, “What am I supposed to learn from this?” The blessing comes from asking. Thanks for pointing this out.
