Pumping Gas Creatively – IDC #17

June 13, 2012

[tentblogger-youtube BfBJtgGeInM]

This video is part of the I Don’t Care Project. (thanks Ryan Ash for suggesting this IDC!)

We’ve realized how much what we do, say, and the decisions we make are influenced by what others may think.

The I Don’t Care Project is our way of counteracting that. We intentionally put ourselves in“uncomfortable situations” in hopes of overcoming this fear. These “uncomfortable situations” may include things like doing something other than what is normal and expected or voicing our opinions and beliefs more often.

To do your own IDC and share it in your own IDC post, click here.

Time Abundance

June 12, 2012

I hear this phrase a lot, “There are just not enough hours in the day.” It is kind of a silly phrase, but over the years I have come to accept it as truth.

I have come to realize by believing this lie, I along with countless others, have put off pursuing my dreams because I say I don’t have any time. “I’ll do it tomorrow,” is a common phrase that runs through my head.

I think we all intend to do many, many things with our tomorrows. And then tomorrow comes and the cycle repeats.

Stop Taking All The Grain!

June 11, 2012

You may have heard about the abundance mentality. It’s the concept in which we believe there are more than enough resources to go around and success is available to all. With this mindset, we can be happy for a coworker when he gets a promotion or for a friend who makes headway on her side business.

The contrast of this concept is the scarcity mentality. This is a mindset where we believe there are a limited amount of resources and not everyone can succeed. We become unhappy and jealous when coworkers and friends succeed thinking this will somehow make it more difficult for us to succeed.

The Lighter Side: A Mime Artist And His Dreams

June 9, 2012

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”- Steve Jobs

Question: Did you follow your heart and intuition today?

Let’s Move Mountains Together

June 8, 2012

“That’s been one of my mantras – focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.”
– Steve Jobs

It’s An Open Door – Is God Telling Me To Go This Direction?

June 7, 2012

Often times when a door opens up, we think it must be God’s way of saying, “This is the way you should go.” This is especially true if we’re in a desperate situation. We’re looking for the quickest way out and asking God for help.

Let’s say that suddenly I lost all my clients and couldn’t find a job. Then a buddy of mine tells me he heard they’re hiring at the strip joint across town. I could start right away and make $900 a week.

This is clearly an open door. Is God telling me I should take it?

6 Keys To A Rockin’ Marriage

June 6, 2012

I often hear a topic that stirs my heart. It is a topic that seems to become especially revalent when trying to embark on change or a new entrepreneurial adventure.

The topic is disunity in marriage. I see it in all forms and have experienced it in my own marriage.

In fact, I can honestly tell you that for years Michael and I plodded along in our marriage and got along reasonably well, but we were by no means thriving in unity.

The 30 Day Focus Challenge

June 5, 2012

I need your help. While I’ve been making progress with growing my business, I often get distracted by other projects I have going at the same time. I’m not as productive as I’d like to be with my business and it is vitally important that I am because it needs to feed my family.

The reason for lackluster productivity: Lack of focus

I’m looking for people to join me in spending 30 days focusing on a particular project, goal, or idea. It could be anything having to do with a side business, work, something around the house, a website or blog, or anything else.

created by wordle.net

Looking back over the month of May, it’s been helpful to identify how we’ve moved closer to some of our 2012 goals. One of those was to grow my music lesson business which saw a growth of 20%. Another goal was to grow our blog. Here are some nitty-gritty details that show what that growth looked like.
