A part of the vision Claudia and I have for rise365 is to build relationships and community through this site. We want it to be a supportive environment for others that are looking to realign the trajectory of their life so that it is more congruent with their calling, dreams, and passions.

Time and time again, we are blessed, challenged, and encouraged by your comments and emails. On many posts, I feel it’s in the comment section that some of the biggest takeaways are.

“We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.” -Dave Ramsey

Question: Do you listen to the Dave Ramsey Show?
I’ve never looked at each day as a gift before. Each day I viewed as simply one to get through so that I could get to the one I was actually looking forward to.

It sounds horrible to say. But that was how I lived. I think most of us do.
I never viewed each beautiful and marvelous day as a gift. No, I actually dreaded most days. For years I dreaded 5 out of the 7 days of the week.
In his book, The Traveler’s Gift, Andy Andrews talks about how we are affected by those we spend our time with. He gives the example of how a parent is concerned about who their son or daughter becomes friends with.

The reason for this is simple. Kids are affected by the kids they hangout with. It affects their behavior, attitude, outlook, dress, the music they listen to, and even the way they walk and talk.
Do you ever do the right thing and know you are doing the right thing, but it is so much harder than the wrong thing that you’ve been doing for years?

Sometimes it seems like making the right decision is like stepping out over the edge of a cliff and the path is there, it’s right there, you just can’t see it. It is just hard to believe it really is there.

I almost saw the wind today. The wind… it howled, actually howled through the pine trees I sat under. As I looked up, I saw the sun reflect off of the long, thin needles as they swayed gracefully. It was as if it had fingers, gentle, long fingers that were brushing over the bows and making them bounce and dance.

The wind. What a strange and magnificent thing. It blows. It winds its way through the smallest cracks and gusts through huge forests till it dissipates into nothing. It starts somewhere and ends nowhere. It wanders like a lost soul.
