How Digging Holes Helped My Marriage

March 14, 2012

I get a little obsessed with plants. I think it is my nurturing personality, I want to save every plant in my yard and nurse it back to life.

Michael and I are scaling back our landscaping. Actually it was never really landscaping but a mishmosh of plants I had stuck in the ground here and there.

My “let’s wing it” approach just hasn’t worked out so well. I just dive in and start digging, similar to how I write, actually. I just have to start with a word or a sentence. Any sentence.

Brief From Grocer – IDC #14

March 13, 2012

Here’s a check in by Jude and me from our local grocer. I wanted to shoot a video by myself in a public place with lots people around. I am uncomfortable doing this. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

The number one regret was:

I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

Share Your Own IDC

March 6, 2012

As you may know, 4 months ago, Claudia and I started the IDC Project. We did this because we’ve realized how much what we do, say, and the decisions we make are influenced by what others may think (click here to learn more about the IDC Project).

We’ve received an incredible response to this project! Many people have shared with us how this project has challenged them and how they are now doing their own “uncomfortable situations.”

Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.

– Ralph Waldo Emerson –

Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.

– Robert H. Schuller –

The longer I work with life and career clients, the more I realize that certain “sticking points” are common with many people. Think of them as “hurdles” that are difficult to clear.

One such hurdle is the tendency to spend more time meditating on what to do than actually getting busy and doing something.
