Date Night Ideas

February 13, 2012

Recently, we asked you for creative suggestions for a date night. We were looking for something simple, something fun, something inexpensive, and something to keep a relationship strong.

Here are some of your suggestions and the approximate costs:

Pack a picnic and go to the park. After lunch, go for a walk or a hike and spend time together connecting and talking about life.
– Given by Jon White.

If both you and your significant other are into exercising, head out to a local 5k or 10k race and walk it. This great way to have a ton of time just to be together and talk.
– Given by Kent Julian.

Purchase a bottle of sparkling apple cider and 4 plastic flute glasses. Head to the nearest retirement community and find an older couple and ask them to celebrate marriage with you. Ask them for the best advice they have on marriage and anything else. Listen, laugh, love and grow a new friendship.
– Given by Chris Sutton.

Have the kids stay over night with the relatives and head into town for dinner and then stroll the town chatting about all the things you didn’t have time to talk about over dinner. Later, catch a movie at the dollar theater and head home to a quite house for a nightcap.

Pictures

February 12, 2012

I recently heard someone say that one of your goals in life should be to take a lot of pictures. To track your life through photos for your own benefit and as a gift to the next generations.

I never thought of taking pictures in this way before. I always enjoyed pictures, but never placed it high on my to do list. I thought that if I get them taken, I get them taken. If not, no big deal.

I figured some people were just picture people and some weren’t. I was usually the latter for various reasons. I forgot my camera, the battery was dead, etc.

How I Am Learning To Share

February 8, 2012

I used to keep to myself, sharing was hurtful. It opened me up to too many people. Being vulnerable was scary.

I have realized lately that I have something to share. And that it is important that I share it. To share I have to pour out, empty my cup a little bit. When I do, amazingly it gets refilled. And not just with stuff that I already knew. It gets filled with new friendships, new opportunities, new lessons, new life. I give and in turn I receive.

It seems simple enough, but taking that first step is often so scary for me.

How To Own A $500,000 House

February 5, 2012

Just yesterday I went to the library. I rented an audiobook by the late Jim Rohn called, “The Art of Exceptional Living.” Interesting title, one that drew me in immediately.

Jim Rohn was known as America’s foremost business philosopher. He grew up as a farm boy in Idaho and became a millionaire by age 31. His story is as inspiring as they come. As I listened to his animated voice coming out of the cd player, I stood there completely transfixed. “This stuff is amazing!” I blurted it out to Michael.
