I recently heard someone say that one of your goals in life should be to take a lot of pictures. To track your life through photos for your own benefit and as a gift to the next generations.
I never thought of taking pictures in this way before. I always enjoyed pictures, but never placed it high on my to do list. I thought that if I get them taken, I get them taken. If not, no big deal.
I figured some people were just picture people and some weren’t. I was usually the latter for various reasons. I forgot my camera, the battery was dead, etc.
A good friend of mine actually turned her love of photography into a thriving business. She is absolutely amazing at it! I think her family will be truly blessed for generations because of her passion to capture the moment.
That’s what taking a picture does after all. It captures a moment. A life is millions of moments. If I can capture a few of them, I am creating the ability to replay that moment in my head down the road. Otherwise, my mind forgets so many moments of my life. For instance, think back on your past month, what do you remember?
Since having Jude, I have taken more pictures than at any other time in my life. And what has been reveled to me is that pictures give life perspective. After I lay Jude down at night, I often find myself looking back at the pictures I have taken that day. And I am able to replay my day and lock the wonderful memories away deep in my mind. I am now able to think back over his first months with wonderful clarity!
I feel I have truly lived and felt every day since he was born. It hasn’t passed in a blur. I have truly fully felt and remember the emotion of each day.
I have realized pictures are not only a precious memory for me, but a gift to my children, grandchildren and all the future generations. I can tell the story of my life through my pictures. What a gift!
I will no longer let my life pass without capturing as many moments as I can on film.
Question: Are you capturing your moment in life through pictures?
you missed a ‘:’ in your link to http://charphotography.com/
Thanks, Jason!
I was about to report the broken link… 🙂
I just looked back over my last 15 months on Instagram…and it was this wild trip that made me really appreciate the digital scrapbook I’ve created. I’ve only been posting them to my tumbler blog as of the end of September: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/adlibmusic
Thanks Dave!
You got my back.
Ya, you pretty much rock in the picture taking department! And phones have made it super easy to take cool pictures whenever.
So, I couldn’t get into your picture blog 🙁 Do I need a password?
HA! Touché! So the actual link is http://adlibmusic.tumblr.com/
(try that) – and yes, the iPhone 4s makes picture taking and sharing a breeze!
Awesome. Saw it. Loved it.
The main memories that I can remember of my childhood are the ones that have photos attached.
Great reminder, Claudia. I used to take a TON of photos – I was the known camera person at any social gathering. I do not do this anymore. I’d like to get back into taking photos again – especially of Josh and I!
Same here Alana! I love those pictures! It’s like they were just taken yesterday 🙂
I used to take a lot of pictures on my travels, then after we got married I guess I thought life was to normal to take pictures – silly- We have a couple years that we took hardly any pictures and it makes me sad because I hardly remember those years!
Ya, take lots of you two cuties so you can show your kiddos! Some of you tearing up the dance floor would be an awesome memory 😉
Ah, thank-you Mike for the shout out! This biz of mine sure has taken me on a wild ride. It is a deep passion of mine. Even more than creating photos and capturing memories…it allows me to affirm, validate, and esteem others. This combined with creating beauty is what makes my passion come alive at full force.:)
Char, I love that you know what the deeper purpose and drive is. It’s rare for people to know that. And what a powerful calling! One that is very much needed. You do an awesome job with it, by the way. Well done.
And you’re welcome for the shout out, though the post was actually written by Claudia. 🙂
A wild ride indeed 🙂 A ‘deep passion’ and you are AWESOME at it!!
Thank-you Claudia:)
anytime 🙂
We especially took a lot when Skyler was really little. We don’t get to take as many now, but I’m looking forward to one day being able to have time to sit down and look at the pictures! After Skyler was one we put together a DVD of the first year. It made us cry when we watched it. It was so amazing to see the changes in one little year.
Oh my word Ryan, I know! They change sooooo fast! The DVD idea is cool! Yea I would totally be crying too!
