I can’t say I’ve eaten anything “crazy” from hunger but I have eaten some unusual foods – in Greece we were served calves head (yes with the eyes still in like it was looking at you!) – don’t remember actually eating much of that and I have had frogs legs. I guess those are the craziest things I’ve ever tried.
Ooh, calves head. Can’t say I’ve tried that, or frog legs for that matter! I did try sheep head in Kyrgyzstan, though. Eyes still in it.
I really can’t recall… I’ve ate things that I didn’t like, such as squid, but now I’m cool with squid… As a matter of fact I love seafood (the kind where you chew with your mouth closed)… Now, I know there is something in the Philippines called Balut (Pronounced “Baw-loot), It’s an egg with a partially developed duck, and I know there are some people who will slurp that right out of the egg-shell… Me… No way! I’d rather eat my arm! “I think” ๐
I don’t think I answered your question though… I guess I’ve never been “that” hungry…
I remember plenty of unique sandwiches, where I just combine anything and everything, but there is nothing like a poor man’s “Mustard Sandwich”… Mustard allows you to imagine there’s a very thin ham slice in the middle.
Rob, Never heard of a mustard sandwich! I am very familiar with p & j’s, but I like those.
Balut sounds awful! Wow. Gag! I too love seafood now. I didn’t grow up with it as my family was more of a meat and potatoes family.
Nothing like scallops, shrimp, sushi, (big fan of sushi!), or just fish prepared well.
You ever eat raw oysters? My wife got me turned onto to those when we met… But I usually only get some when I get to Florida…
I have only a few times. I could see really getting into them if I had them more often.
I ate a fried cockroach & inchworm in Thailand, but not even because I was hungry… I just thought it sounded like a good idea! i honestly don’t know what i was thinking.
And, why did you think that was a good idea?! ๐ Haha, sounds like a fun adventure!
Oh man, Michael! That tops most anything I tried. I think the most weird thing I’ve tried was sheep head.
