In this video, I share how this lady (well, an adjustable dressform, actually) has got to go!
We’re getting rid of a few things that have been collecting dust around the house. It’s time to shed some of our extra baggage. No, we’re not going all minimalist on you, at least not yet! We simply have too much stuff we never use. Time for it to go!

Question: Have you gotten rid of anything lately? How’d you do it?
Great post and great idea Michael and Claudia! A post you did a while ago inspired me. I was walking the rail trail with my friend and she mentioned how she had to go to the mall to see if she could buy a Total Gym that he wanted for his birthday but was afraid it would be too expensive. I told her I have a perfectly good one under my daughter’s bed just collecting (A LOT!) of dust. I was more than happy to give it to her and since she is my hairdresser she insisted on doing my next 2 appointments for free – even though I didn’t care about that. I was just happy to get it out of my house and to someone who would use it. And he loves it!
Nice, Ann! Way to make a trade. Hmm, wonder what I could sale for a few free haircuts…
Oh no, I would like the dressform if you haven’t sold it yet!! I have one that I use to display my etsy clothes on and can always use another one if it’s in good shape. Let me know what you’re asking for it. I sell on craigslist all the time and have had pretty good success. Sometimes you have to post over and over just to keep the item at the top but it’s worth it in the end. I do garage sales too and put free ads in our local paper. They let you do that if the items are under a certain amount of money that you are asking. Ebay is good too especially if you do it for auction and can list free!
We haven’t sold it, Donna. It’s a little worn, but I think all the adjustments work. I’ll have to ask Claudia. We want to take some photos of it, so we can send them over to you and you can see what you think.
Not sure of asking price yet. If you’re interested, we can workout a good deal for you. 🙂
Ok just let me know. Thanks.
I’ve had alot of luck with Craigslist and also sold a few things on ebay. However, I think we have had the most luck purging stuff with a good old fashioned yard sale. Advertised in the local paper and got rid of tons of stuff. We weren’t trying to make much money just get rid of them. So we priced everything low and took any reasonable offers. I sold an non-running lawnmower for a little cash, get rid of lots of odds and ends and sold some old, unused furniture. Good times…..
John,
That’s the way to do a yard sale. One of Claudia’s pet peeves is a yard sale where everything is priced too high. In my experience too, a yard sale is not the best way to get the most for your stuff. Good work purging!
Oh, yes… we have quite a few things we could get rid of too. I’m catching up on some of your vlogs, nice job, Michael! 🙂
Hey thanks, Laura! Congrats on the nomination for the Circle of Moms award, by the way. I cast my ballot a little bit ago. 🙂
If you can’t get this “lady” to Donna – you can always take it to the hairdressing place that Claudia blogged about last week! Lot’s of heads with no body – that’s just sad. Ha. Take it up there and ask for the highest bidder! We have some things we want to Craigslist or sell at a local “Moms” type Facebook page that gets alot of traffic in our town. Yard sales have gotten rid of alot of baby items in the past and since my wife takes great care of things, we got good prices.
Haha!!! That’s just great, Michael!
Yeah, we put the dress form on Craigslist and it’s generated a lot of interest. No takers just yet.
