So true Michael – “You won’t regret it…”. And you are absolutely right on with what parents of older kids says to parents of younger kids. I find myself looking back, even with the ideal home situation, being at home fulltime, spending tons and tons of time with my 6 year old and still thinking, maybe I could have spent more or “better” time with her, though I know it’s not really possible. I still look at old videos and pictures thinking of how it seems like lightyears since we’ve changed diapers or sang Sesame Street songs with her, yet it wasn’t that long ago. Funny thing – thanks for this post. I know you and Claudia will make the most of each day with Jude.
Well thanks, Michael! I think it’s so neat that you’re such an attentive and in-tune father to what’s going on in your home. Your daughter is truly blessed to have such a present dad!
Great reminder Michael and adorable pictures. I had both my boys home this weekend to celebrate my dad’s 86th birthday. It has become such a rare treat to have all 3 of my kids home at one time and I so cherish and enjoy those times. Looking at the pictures of your Jude reminds me so much of when my oldest son, Christopher was a baby. We just were thrilled with every little thing he did and looking at his photo albums he really grew so quickly! Now he’s 27 and preparing to get married in October! Honestly where does the time go? We had so much fun this weekend – another beautiful memory to keep in my heart and cherish. Enjoy each of yours as well.
Michael, “time” the word we all spend to little of on the things we should and doing the things we shouldn’t. Cherish the moments and be in all the time. Looking back I cannot believe how fast my two have grown and moved to self-suffiency. Thanks for the reminder, @missioncoach
I think it was Kent Julian that said if you want to spend quality time with your children, you need to spend quantity time with them.
Thanks for the input!

Thanks for this great reminder, Michael. I actually had a great lunch with my siblings on Friday and blogged about it for next week. We spend much time with our own individual families, but never have time for each other anymore, so we vowed to do something small every week or every other week together now (Thanks to mom’s great idea). I’m certain this intentional deposit will have great rewards for us on down the road.
Rob, this comes back to the longer vision again. You’re setting yourself up for success because you’re looking down the road to see what you want. It’s very cool that the rest of your family is willing to invest as well!
You won’t regret it in the least. Kathy and I haven’t been perfect, but we’ve done pretty well and have been very intentional…and wow, has it paid off!

Like a blink of an eye…
Kent, that’s what I keep hearing. I’m trying to be intentional and enjoy the moments.

I can see it in your relationship with your kids in your videos, Kent. You have a beautiful family. Looking for to meeting them someday.
