So, the question is why? Why would you take all the time and effort to do all those things you do? Why take all the effort to write a book, or keep a blog, or travel, or start your own business? Why do you read so many books? Doesn’t it take up a lot of your time?
My answer, along with Jim is, well, why not?! The time will pass anyway, so why not see how high you can fly?
Why not watch the sun set over the Swiss Alps with your love?
Why not write books about what you are learning and share them with others?
Why not start your own business together?
Why not eat pastries at an outdoor cafe in Paris?
Why not drink black tea in London with an extra lump of sugar?
Why not?
Why not go to a conference in Chicago about online business and meet up with other great people doing the same? (Wanna join us? We’ll meet up and grab dinner together!)
Why not paint a beautiful picture and give it away?
Why not visit Sardinia? Where is it anyway? Why not find out?
Why not find out what truly makes some ideas stick? (remember the kidney heist myth?)
Why not see how high you can fly?
Why not learn how to become unforgettable? Why not, this is your only life, so make it unforgettable!
Why not take incredible pictures of the same mountain for 365 days straight and then publish a book with all of your pictures in it?
Why not learn the power of LinkedIn and starting a business from this guy? Or how to be successful on Facebook from this girl, or perhaps earning money on Pinterest from this girl?
Why not listen to podcast after podcast about other entrepreneurs and their incredible stories from this girl or this guy?
Why not?
Why not help stop child prostitution in South East Asia along with these guys?
Why not help restore justice to children in Uganda through this school?
Why not sail around the world for a year with your love? I mean, why not?
Why not build a house in the middle of the Colorado wilderness?
Why not take extraordinary pictures of people highlighting their enchanting eyes? You could!
Why not give up the obvious for the not so obvious, the money for the happiness?
Why not go to the library and come out with piles of books? Why not learn all you can with every minute you have?
Why not?
Why not surf in beautiful Hawaii?
Why not run across the Sahara?
We can all ask ourselves this life breathing question, WHY NOT? I think you will find, as we have, there really isn’t anything that stands in the way of WHY NOT?
Thanks to Michael for the spark, Ben for dreaming of sailing , Jim for the push!
Are you guys going to the Internet Prophets conference? It looks amazing and I wish I could make it but there are other commitments that prevent me from going.
Yes, we are Joe. That’d be great if you were going too! Guess we’ll get to meet next time.
Awesome Michael. I know you’ll have a great time and get a lot out of it. While I’m unable to attend, I do have a close friend that is going and hope to hear of all the amazing things that happen during the event.
Cool Joe! It would be fun to connect with your friend, does he have an online business at the moment or is he wanting to get into it?
I’ll let him know and see if he wants to connect. He currently has a blog and him and I are trying to start up an online course to help people get started and moving in a new direction.
Oh that’s cool Joe, great idea btw, I think you could find plenty of people who would love to be involved in a group like that!
I hope so Claudia. We’ll see how it does once we’re ready to launch.
Why not indeed Claudia! There is no good ‘excuse’! You said it perfectly – this is the only life we have, why not be unforgettable!
You are dear and sweet and unforgettable Ann!
Just curious, have you experienced a lot of people asking you WHY you do the things you are doing (with rise365)? I feel like Josh and I have had a few people question WHY of us. Why do you have a blog? Why are you so into cycling? Why do you spend so much time doing… “that”. At times it has really agitated me that people cannot understand why we would pursue something we enjoy, but your article has given me a new perspective. Why WOULDN’T I do these things? If I love doing them, and they are making me happy and I feel fulfilled, and I am impacting others, why would I stop?
I love that you linked to the stories you highlighted. It was fun to
click on a few of the links to see what drives others. Those mountain
photos are GORGEOUS! 🙂
Not especially Alana, but I ask it of myself all the time! I like to continually ask if what I am doing is truly taking me where I want to go… and if it’s not, than why am I still doing it? And the flip side, if there is something I do want to do… than why not do it?
I like stretching my ‘jumping into the void’ muscle this way. 🙂
Just like plants, we truly thrive in certain environments. To run with the plant analogy – I think lots of us get ourselves in pots on a patio when we would actually truly thrive in the nutrient rich bank of a river.
Push to be planted where you thrive. That is our goal and I know it is the same for you and Josh!
I know you were wanting to connect with more entrepreneurial people around you, how is that goin?
Love this post and love you guys!!:)
Thanks, Char. Same to you guys!
I just love Jim Rohn’s voice. My new motto since I heard that is “You Gotta Be Here Until You GO!” – and I add to the end “So I might as well BE HERE!”. I hope you guys get the most out of your conference and meet some new and exciting people. Gonna be stalking anyone in particular? 🙂
Michael,
Yeah, let’s engage and make the most of our lives! Why not?!
In terms of the conference, Dan Miller will be attending so we’re looking forward to catching up to him. Also, Pat Flynn will be speaking. I’m looking forward to meeting him as well.
Dearest Claudia, I so enjoyed this blog as I have many others of yours, but don’t always comment. Sorry about that. You have an awesome gift at writing and challenging me in ways I had not thought of before. Keep up the good work, darlin! You and Michael are a team working together and that is the way a healthy marriage should be. God bless you both
Marilyn
Thanks so much Marilyn!
I really appreciate your encouragement. As I think back over my life I find you and your home and sweet family have constantly been a source of healing, safety and encouragement for me and so many others!
Thank you for boldly living your life with love!
