I Don’t Want to be a Failure Driven and Tossed by the Wind

November 19, 2012

Recently, Claudia and I had a decision to make. It wasn’t super important, but important enough. We dragged our feet and took far too long to make our decision. We were wishy-washy and indecisive.

The good news is, we DID make a decision.

The bad news is, now we’re NOT SURE if we like it.

Have you ever experienced this? You struggle and struggle to make a decision and then you have second thoughts?

I know I have.

It’s Time To Pick A Fight

November 15, 2012

Michael and I just finished reading Love Does by Bob Goff. The book is nothing short of a life changer! The premise of the book is love does more than just talk and read and meet together. Love needs to be put into action.

I was particularly struck by one of the chapters. It was the chapter on picking a fight.

Secretly, I have always been intrigued by people who pick fights. Part of me has always wanted to be like them. Not the bullies, mind you, just the people who had some fire in them.

Personality Profile Giveaway and Free Review Session!

November 12, 2012

I can point back to a couple major things which have changed my life. One of these was taking the 48 Days DISC Personality Profile.

DISC Assessment Wheel

DISC Assessment Wheel

When I took the profile along with my wife, Claudia, things suddenly clicked. I not only understood myself better, but her as well.

I was also able to understand and relate to other people in a way I never had before. Taking the assessment gave me the tools I was missing in order to pursue a successful life.

It has helped me make more money in my business, given me more confidence, and helped me understand other people better which has in turn supercharged my relationships!

I Never Saw It Coming – “You’re Fired!”

November 6, 2012

I’ve been fired twice in my life. I’ve heard you haven’t truly lived till you have been fired two or three times. I guess I can breathe a big sigh of relief knowing I am now truly living.

In neither situation did I see it coming. In fact, it was just the opposite, I thought I was doing a great job.

It is funny thinking about it now, and as I write this I have to laugh. I didn’t fit the bill of the typical girl who gets fired from her job for not showing up or taking too many breaks. Needless to say, I got the boot and I tell the story with pride as part of my scattered, wounded, and beautiful past which has made me who I am today.

Month in Review for October 2012

November 5, 2012

As the weather turns colder and we break out our comfy sweatshirts, we look forward to the winter months ahead and 2013 right around the corner! Here’s a brief recap of this past month and some of what’s been going on in our world.

Us goofing around

Like many of the people across the country, we had prepared for the worst with Hurricane Sandy. Being in eastern Pennsylvania, the storm was expected to pass right over us and cause quite a mess. Thankfully, it took a bit of a different route and we avoided the brunt of it. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many who have been impacted greatly.

This past month, a group of about 40 of us participated in the rise365 Productivity Experiment. It was a great group of folks sharing ideas and keeping each other accountable with being more productive.

The Power of Disrupting Your Routine

November 2, 2012

I realized in a new way today the power of disrupting our routine. You see, we wanted to remember to soak oatmeal this evening before going to bed. So, Claudia wrote a reminder for us to remember.

Our reminder to soak the oatmeal

Just writing a reminder can really make a difference with remembering something. However, sometimes we still forget even if we’ve written a reminder.

Normally, after we write a reminder note, we’ll stick this sort of thing on the refrigerator, on our idea board, or in our planner.

It is Suddenly Very Clear – I Need to Learn How to Live

November 1, 2012

I went to hear Paula D’Arcy speak this past Saturday. Her story is compelling to say the least. Her words struck a chord in me where not many have.

She spoke on taking the further journey. And, moving beyond our usual place of comfort to a new horizon. Her restated question through the whole evening was, “What is this journey asking of me?”

This is an excerpt from her book, The Red Bird. At this moment, she had been laying in bed for 8 months with a case of mononucleosis. A friend came to visit and this is the conversation which occurred.
