Question: What are you up to today?
“Where there’s no progress, there’s no growth. If there’s no growth, there’s no life. Environments void of change are eventually void of life.” – Andy Stanley

Jude was a change that brought life in more ways than one.
Question: What was one change that brought life for you?
As a thinker I often find myself, well, sitting and thinking. And while sitting back and analyzing has its benefits I am realizing it pales in comparison to actual experiences.

I can sit and ponder the meaning of life day in and day out, but pondering is only that, and it often leaves me in the same place from which I started. Sitting and thinking.
I was listening to Donald Miller’s “A Million Miles In a Thousand Years” today as I have so many times before. I seriously think I could listen to the same chapter over and over again and something different would jump out at me every time.
Many times when I’m talking with someone about their business dreams and goals, they mention the desire to become location independent. This is becoming more and more common as technology improves and employers, employees, and entrepreneurs are all realizing it is both beneficial and possible.

So, what is location independent?
location independent: able to live and work from anywhere in the world
The mention of location independence often conjures up thoughts of a 20-something sitting on an exotic beach with a laptop and a martini.
Michael and I sometimes get so excited about our lives and the direction we are now going we can hardly contain ourselves. We have brainstorming sessions were we talk about many, many ideas we want to implement.

We start saying things like, “Oh, and we need to do this or we should do that or we should start this…”
Sometimes we start our sessions so excited and by the end we feel completely discouraged because of time limitations for the amount of things we want to do. This totally defeats the purpose of the brainstorming session!
Recently, I wrote about why I don’t listen to news radio. Similarly, I don’t check the weather. The reasons are a little different but the philosophy is similar.

Just the other week, it was confirmed to me that this is a good approach.
I overheard someone mention it was supposed to rain all week long. Sure enough, the next day was overcast and, before too long, raindrops started to fall.
Today our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost someone who was defending the freedom we experience today.
Let’s honor those who gave this ultimate sacrifice by taking advantage of this freedom and choosing for ourselves the direction we want our lives to go.

Question: What’s one way you’re taking action this holiday weekend?
Looking from the outside in, some would say that 6 months after having your first child isn’t the ideal time to start a business. I used to agree.

Jude one day old
Now however, I would pose a question in return, “Or could it actually be the ideal time, because after all, when is the ideal time to have a baby?”
Is it when you finish school?
Is it when you pay off all your debt?
Is it when you finally get your business up and running?
Is the ideal time when you buy a house, because surely you can’t have a baby while living in an apartment! (Dresser drawers are just the right size for an infant to sleep in, by the way.)
Is it when you have the money to buy an SUV because your old Honda Civic isn’t rated first for safety and you wouldn’t want to risk an accident?
