Why I Don’t Listen To News Radio

May 24, 2012

I was taking our car into the mechanic this morning when I turned on the local news radio station on for a few minutes (something I rarely do).

In the three minutes I had the radio on, I learned of the following stories:

1. A man put his infant into a laundromat washing machine and turned it on.

2. A swim coach had an affair with a female teenage student.

3. There is congestion on the highways.

Ideas Are Darn Slippery!

May 22, 2012

Ideas are slippery little things, they escape from your mind like a wet bar of soap squirts out of your hand. They will come and go much like a summer thunderstorm.

Capture them! Write them down! All it takes is one idea, one way of making something work. Jim Rohn says “Ideas can be life-changing. Sometimes all you need to open the door is just one more good idea.”

Sure, it takes action and implementation and you can’t act on every one. But, it’s like brainstorming; more is better.

Are You Born With It?

May 21, 2012

I have a question. Something that I have been wondering for a while now, and the topic keeps coming up over and over in my mind.

Just this evening Michael and I watched a video of a guy giving a speech on dreams. He was obsessed with being a writer from a young age, so much so he skipped college and went right onto pursuing his writing career. I started to think about my question again.

Fever And Poop

May 18, 2012

Wow. It was a fully lived day, I can say that.  A day full of comforting a feverish little boy. I will report that I did get to brush my teeth, so horray for that!

I can say that after two days of restless fussing and a big blowout in the diaper, we are back to being one happy family! Funny how wonderful a poopy diaper can be!

The day in and of itself was beautiful however. Crisp, sunny with a slight breeze that made me think fondly of summers growing up in the country.

5 Things I’m Grateful For

May 17, 2012

When you feel down and like you just can’t keep going, stop, take a deep breath, and look around.

Sure, it can be hard to see the forest in spite of the trees, but we need to remember there is an ebb and flow to life and this too shall pass.

Challenges will make us stronger, let’s see them as an opportunity to learn.

When I’m struggling to see the bigger picture, it helps to remind myself of things I’m grateful for.

My Calling Doesn’t Wear A Diaper

May 16, 2012

The latest issue of Success Magazine has arrived in the Good household. On any given day when the magazine first arrives, you can find one of us carrying it around, keeping it handy to fill a free moment.

That moment arrived for me just this morning during Jude’s nap. I flopped into one of  our old leather club chairs for an inspirational read. It did not disappoint.

There was an article that really caught my attention and drew me in.

Supercharge Your Thinking For New Ideas

May 15, 2012

Want to generate some radically new ideas for your life? Doing what you’ve always done isn’t going to cut it. Here’s an approach I came across in an article written by Dan Sullivan.

Take any goal you have and multiply it by 10.

Recently, I been thinking about finances and how I could generate a little extra money as my business shifts into a higher gear. For example, let’s say I had the goal to earn an extra $400 a month?

OK, maybe I could pick up a side job, focus on getting a new student or two, or sell a few things. While this approach has its place, I’m probably not going to come up with any ideas that are groundbreaking or revolutionary.
